Yaaaayyyy it’s finally Friday! I have been looking forward to this weekend since erm….Monday! I have worked a lot of overtime this last week including the weekend, I have had every weekend off in the last five years so it was a bit of a shock to the system going back to working one. I do get a Wednesday off so I won’t complain too much :)!
So on Wednesday I went into Aberdeen to go shopping which was the first time in ages I had been in, there are loads of sales on at the moment but as I’ve just gone from weekly pay and won’t get paid again until the end of the month I am having to watch my money :(! So I just bought what I was really needing although I did manage to sneak in a New Look non sale purchase too!!
First stop was Superdrug, I have been changing all my makeup, toiletries, etc to as many cruelty free and Paraben free products that I can due to the obvious cruelty animals endure for us to look good but also to reduce the chemicals that I’m putting on my skin. They have a vegan range of cosmetics in there called B., I already have a few items of their make up which so far I’ve loved and I wanted to use their skin are products too.
They have a sale on their skin care items and a buy one get the second half price on their makeup range at the moment which made it even better. I got the whole lot for less than £34!! I bought the Melting Gel Cleanser to use daily and the Glycolic Cleansing Peel to use a couple of times a week; the Rejuvenating Serum to use under my night cream to hydrate my skin as it sometimes gets quite dry and the Day Cream which has a SPF15 as my daily moisturiser. I do still have some night cream left so once I have used that up I will then buy the one from that range as I do like to be matchy matchy with my products. I also bought the Eyebrow Kit and the Makeup Primer. I’m not sure how long their offers are on for so you may need to be quick!
Next stop was Holland and Barratt to pick up some shampoo and conditioner, I thought that the brand I was using was cruelty free as it’s packaged as having no chemicals, natural products, etc but I could not see the leaping bunny logo and their only contact details is their address so I won’t bother using that. If anyone knows if the Happy Hair range is cruelty free then let me know. As my hair is coloured I went for a hydrating shampoo and conditioner, I’m colouring my hair a bit more frequently as red fades quickly anyway but also grey hairs just seem to appear overnight!! I got the Dr Organic Virgin Olive Oil shampoo and conditioner, I also picked up a Manuka Honey deodorant and Cherry lip balm from the same range too. I had a £7.50 reward voucher to use in there so I was only just over £12 for my items.
I decided to have “just a look” in New Look but ended up coming out with a pretty floral kimono that was £20 and a necklace to go with it that was £7.99. I decided that purchase was for treating myself for all the overtime that I worked last week, I am sure that I am not the only person that tries to justify buying things like that!
Do you use cruelty free or Paraben free products, which ones would you recommend? Also have you been hitting the sales? I’d love to hear about your purchases!
