Cue Barbecue Aberdeen

13/03/2016

I meant to write this post up a couple of weeks ago but after having to make the difficult decision to have Ben put to sleep I kinda lost my blogging mojo, so I’ve given myself a boot up the behind and a shake and it has now returned.  I’m still missing the old ginger ball of fluff as he has left a huge cat shaped hole in our hearts and our home as the house is so empty without him but life goes on as they say.

Moving on to happier times…….Julia from Just Julia arranged for us bloggers to attend an event at a new BBQ restaurant that has opened here in Aberdeen called Cue BBQ.  Cue is hidden away just off Holburn Junction in Alford Lane and has a warm and inviting feel to it with an amazing choice of food on offer for both carnivores and herbivores.  From their Pulled Pork Rollin Rolls to their Monster Mushroom Burger for mains; Seasoned Fries, Moonshine Onion Rings and Cornbread Muffins for side dishes and their tasty desserts Pecan Pie, Key Lime Cheesecake and the very popular Banoffee Pie you will definitely find something that makes you drool.  There is also a well priced children’s menu that contains smaller portions of what the grown ups are having and kids under 5 eat for free!  My only criticism of the menu is there doesn’t seem to be anything marked as being gluten free so I would check with them first if you have any dietary requirements.

The Pulled Pork is really tender and is smothered in a delicious BBQ sauce and along with the Cue Brisket is cooked for hours in their huuuuuuge smoker.  This smoker came all the way over from the US and after travelling thousands of miles to get to Aberdeen they discovered that they were unable to transport it upstairs due to it’s size, so ended up removing a window and using a forklift to place it there.  I’ve never tried Gumbo before but their Louisiana Muddy version tasted really good and is served along with rice, you can buy this in a half bowl size or a full sized serving depending on how hungry you are.  If you are really hungry then there is the Mission Critical Meat Platter for you to enjoy, this platter has a meat selection straight from the smoker plus a lot of sides including: onion rings, fries, pickles, slaw, potato salad and salted onions all on one ginormous tray.  For the herbivores out there the vegetarian options looked really tasty and the veggie bloggers that tried them said how nice the food was, you can check out both Laura’s and Rhona’s reviews to see what they thought.

Overall I really enjoyed my Cue experience and I can’t wait to go back again to try something different on the menu.

I also want to give a shout out to Sarah from Blogs, Vlogs, etc for taking my photos at the table, I was tucked away in the corner and couldn’t manage to reach so she kindly took them for me :).

Spread the love
