Does your little one enjoy making a lot of noise playing musical instruments? Have they got the potential to be the next Elton John or Alicia Keys? Then this Halilit Toddler Music Orchestra Set is the perfect toy for them. Music and singing helps with children’s sensory development as well as their vocabulary. Songs about colours, animals, the alphabet, etc encourages their language and listening skills too. Playing with instruments also helps with developing both their gross and motor skills.
The Halilit Toddler Music Orchestra Set (£34.99) is a fantastic 5 piece early years musical instrument gift set. It contains a cute Ocean Drum, colour coded Xylophone with music sheet, Shaker Maraca, Ring My Bell and Rattle Roller. The instruments are accurately tuned to produce clear sounds and are suitable for babies from 12 months old.
The xylophone is sturdy built with brightly coloured metal keys and a clip underneath to store the plastic mallet. As it is accurately tuned it makes a lovely noise rather than the duff noises others make which aren’t. It also comes with a card of music with tunes such as Old McDonald Had A Farm, Jingle Bells and one I’ve never heard of before Little Jonathan.
This tambourine is the exact same one that we use at Noah’s music class. It is lightweight with colourful beads in the middle of the drum. As well as using it to shake about, we also use it as a prop to songs that we sing. One song we use it to is ‘I Hear Thunder’ We use the drum to bang loud thunder noises, then shake it for the rain drop sound. Even our cat Freddie loves playing with it!
The Shaker Maraca has a chunky textured handle which makes it so easy for them to pick up and hold. Although it is a different shape to the maracas we use in our music class the rattle noise is just the same.
This is an instrument we have never used before. The Rattle Roller has a chunky handle for them to hold and makes a rhythmic ratchet noise when you turn it.
This instrument is a Jingle Bell but is really easy to hold and pick up with its chunky handle. Also because they are encased in plastic there is less chance of a stray bell being swallowed as it’s quite a difficult shape to shove in their mouth! The obvious choice is to use this instrument to ‘Jingle Bells’ or other Christmas songs. But you could also use it to ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ for when you sing “the bell on the bus goes ding, ding, ding!”
The Halilit Toddler Music Orchestra Set is an ideal Christmas gift for little ones. Babies and toddlers will love playing with the brightly coloured chunky instruments. Also if they have older siblings they can join their band too as there is enough instruments to share. Although it is recommended for 12 months+, Noah has been using these types of instruments in his music class since 3 months old. Even though he plays with all of the instruments, his favourite seems to be the Xylophone. I think it’s because it’s the first time he has used this instrument compared to the others. He just needs to learn to hold the stick the right way round. He uses the handle to hit the keys with!!
