Hands up who loves a juicy burger and salty fries! Yep, me too!  Did you know that a Big Mac comes in at an eyewatering 25.5 syns?! If you added medium fries into that you are looking at another 8.5 syns.  So a medium Big Mac meal will take up over 2 days worth of syns even if you do only stick to a Diet Coke! Don’t panic though.   Your burger chomping days are far from over as I’ve got a syn free fakeaway for you!  While your burger might not be in a bun nor shaped in a patty, it certainly doesn’t lack the hamburger taste.  I give you the Burger and Fries Pie.

This post was originally published in August 2015 so I decided to update the images as well as making it Slimming World friendly by being syn free.  The only changes that I made was switching the mince to 5% fat, adding a Spicentice Gourmet Burger spice mix and making my own chips instead of shop bought ones!  You could even make it a Cheeseburger and Fries Pie by adding cheese out of your Hex A and it will still be syn free.  Remember and syn it if you’ve already used your Hex A allowance for that day.

Possible Variations

Use Cheese – Turn it into a Cheeseburger and Fries Pie by adding cheese out of your Hex A allowance or syn it if you’ve already used it up.

Make it veggie – Use Quorn mince or lentils instead of the mince.

Add chopped bacon – Love bacon on your burger? Remove all fat, grill until crispy, chop then chuck it on.

Use lamb mince – Lamb is quite fatty so if you aren’t on Slimming World or if you want to syn it, then swap the mince to lamb.

Want it spicy – Add some chilli to the mince if you want a spicy kick to it.

Low Carb – Use sweet potato instead.

I hope you enjoyed this Burger and Fries Pie recipe.  I had some leftover for the following day and it tasted even better as the flavour of the spices came out more.  You could make the mince mixture the day before and allow the spice mix to do its work overnight and then make the chips the next day.

If you try out this recipe or anything else from my blog, I’d really love to hear any feedback!

There's something so wrong, but also very right about this haha! I wouldn't say no if someone offered me it.

I'd guess I'd say my favourite comfort food is pasta, or if I'm feeling fancy, a big bowl of kedgeree 😉
