There are some days when everything is fine and dandy and then there are days where we need a little boost in happiness. Every now and then I get like this and with a little shove in the right direction to help keep me going I am soon cheered up again. Even the smallest of things can cheer you up and put a smile back on your face. Whether it’s drinking your favourite coffee or reading your favourite book, there are lots of little things that you can do to make yourself happy. So if you are in need of a little happiness boost hopefully this list of things you can do will help.
Summer is almost here and there are lots of gorgeous flowers to buy. A bunch of brightly coloured roses or a mixed bouquet will help brighten up your mood and your home.
Whether it’s a comedy that will make you roar with laughter or a musical that you can sing along with, watching your favourite film can help lift your mood if you are feeling down. Moulin Rouge is my favourite; it has plenty of songs to sing, a young Ewen McGregor for eye candy and some funny bits too.
Organising a day out with friends, a weekend away with your partner or even a two week holiday in sunnier climes will give you something to look forward to.
Get out of the house either to go for a walk or just to sit outside. Fresh air and sunshine will help both your mental and physical health with the added bonus of getting some vitamin d from the sun.
We all deserve a bit of me-time even though it probably doesn’t happen often enough. Get your nails done (or do them yourself if you are good at them), soak in a bath with loads of bubbles and slap on a face mask and just relax for 30 minutes. Hopefully you can chill for long enough before someone knocks on the door wanting into the bathroom to use the toilet (or in my case, the cat wanting in to sit beside you!)
Getting those endorphins going will help make you feel happier. You don’t even have to go to the gym or join a class, there are plenty of workouts to be found online that you can do in your own home.
If you don’t have a pet to cuddle then looking at cute pictures of animals on t’internet will definitely put a smile on your face! Who can resist a cute kitten pic or one of a fluffy bunny?
Life can get so busy that before you know it months have passed and you realise it’s been such a long time since you last caught up. Text or call your friend to catch up on the latest gossip, have a laugh and promise that you won’t leave it so long next time (although you probably will!).
Play your favourite feel good songs and turn up the volume. Sing at the top of your voice. Dance like no one is watching. This is definitely something that makes me happy when I’m feeling down.
Never tried sushi? Maybe you’ve never visited your local museum? Break out of your normal routine and switch things up! You might even find a new favourite thing to do!

Spending time in the garden is one of my favourite things to do at the moment – over the past year I’ve been getting really into gardening <3

Sitting in your garden looking at all the pretty flowers and plants that you have grown must make you happy. I’ve heard lots of people say that gardening relaxes them. Do you grow your own veg too or is it plants/flowers?
