A lot of people think that when you are on a diet all you are allowed to eat is salad, water and fresh air. While that may be true for some restrictive diets it is definitely not the case for Slimming World. On Slimming World you can have cooked breakfasts for ……..ermmmm breakfast. Baked potatoes with cheese and salad for lunch. Even steak and chips for dinner. Also you can have a dessert too if you fancy it. See, that doesn’t sound like a diet at all, does it? As long as you use spray oil to cook with instead of oils, remove all visible fat off the meat before cooking and making sure that at least a third of your plate is full of speed (fruit and veg, not the amphetamine although that will also make you drop a few pounds is definitely not recommended!) will help you lose weight.
I love seeing what people eat in a day as it can give me ideas on what foods to try so I thought I would do a post just to show you what you can eat in a typical day on the Slimming World diet. If you are thinking on starting the diet or are already on it hopefully this post will give you some ideas on foods you can eat. I picked Wednesday as my day to record what I ate for this post as its my day off as well as being weigh in day. Find out how I got on at the end.
I go to Jazzercise on a Wednesday morning. As I don’t like exercising on a full stomach I just had a cup of Twining’s Caramelised Apple green tea with a teaspoon of Stevia, an orange and a banana before heading out to my class. Total syns = 0
By the time I get back home from my Jazzercise class I have already done the recommended 10,000 steps for the day so I am absolutely ravenous. As in give me all the food hungry. Sometimes I will put a potato in the oven to bake on a lower heat so it is ready to eat when I get home or sometimes I will have leftovers. For today’s lunch I had leftovers which was Fragrant Courgette and Prawn Curry. A recipe that I had modified from the BBC Good Food website by switching the sunflower oil to Frylight spray oil. I served it with boiled rice and chopped coriander, yum! Total syns = 0
I did have another cup of green tea and a bag of Metcalfe’s Skinny Sweet & Salted popcorn which is 3.5 syns later on in the afternoon. It was demolished before I remembered about this post and therefore there is no accompanying pic. However I’m sure you can picture what it would look like. Total syns = 3.5
Dinner was Pork Saltimbocca which is a pork steak wrapped in prosciutto and a side of roasted Mediterranean vegetables. I cheated and bought these from M&S. I didn’t use the oil that came with the veg and just sprayed it with the Frylight. I also removed the butter that came with the pork so that lowered the syn value of my meal. I’m not sure if there were only one or two slices of prosciutto wrapped around the pork so I synned it as two slices. I usually eat my dinner early on weigh in day so it’s not lying in my tummy and making me weigh heavier. Don’t know if that really is the case but that’s what I tell myself anyway! Total syns = 1 syn for 2 slices of prosciutto.
Week 8 I gained a half pound which I think was due to not eating enough speed and too much dairy free chocolate after a shit week at work. Last week I had increased my speed food and lost 1.5lbs. I’m surprised that I had lost as much as that as I did no exercise whatsoever as I was so busy that I couldn’t make any of my Jazzercise classes. I’m off on holiday this week and heading to Edinburgh for a few days so I’m guessing that there will likely be a gain when I get back. So I will just enjoy every mouthful that I eat while I’m away :).
