You know those days when you go shopping for the things that you really need but then you wander over to look at other sections of the store and end up coming home with a bag full of goodies? Well, that was what happened to me on Sunday! I went in to Boots as I needed a night cream and some eye serum (begone with you crinkly eyes!) and came out with those plus an eyeshadow palette, eyebrow mascara, lipstick and a polishing hot cloth cleanser, as you do.
I have been using Sanctuary Spa
products as they are cruelty free as well as being Paraben free and they had a three for two offer on so I picked up their overnight face and neck creme, youth awakening eye serum and got the polishing hot cloth cleanser for free. The overnight Creme leaves your skin feeling lovely and soft so will definitely be purchasing this again, the eye serum apparently takes 4 weeks to show visible results so will be looking forward to seeing if it does really work. I have used the hot cloth cleanser before and found it to be a good product as I felt it did remove all of my make up.
I am more of a lip gloss kind of girl as I like how easy they are to apply and how they look (apart from when you are outside and the wind blows your hair across your face and sticks to your glossy lips, happens to me all the time!) but I’m trying to get back into wearing lipsticks again. I picked up the NYX Round Lipstick in Chloe which is a bright fuschia colour and creamy in texture, I went to Superdrug and picked up two more lip products; Gosh Velvet Touch lipstick in Night Kiss, a dark raspberry shade which is maybe better suited to Autumn/Winter but I love it and Gosh Forever Lip Shine in Love Story, a pinky brown nude crayon that is really easy to apply. You were getting two Gosh lip products for £10 so it gave me a perfect excuse to buy more than one lipstick.
Back in Boots and at the Nyx counter I picked up a brow mascara in Chocolate as I have quite pale brows and wanted a bit of definition, I’m not a lover of the thick, dark eyebrow look that is around at the moment as I just don’t think it looks at all natural but that’s just my opinion. A family member uploaded a photo of them and their friend who I’m guessing had HD brows and it just looked as though someone had coloured in her eyebrows with a Sharpie pen, it just doesn’t look right at all so this is a definite trend I am never going to follow. While I was browsing I set my eyes on the Cool Neutrals eyeshadow palette and thought I would use all of the shades (well maybe not the purple shade on the bottom right as that’s just a bit too bright for me) as with many palettes there are a few colours that are really lovely and wearable and then you get a few that you know that will never be used and are wasted. There is a mix of colours including lilac, greys and cream shades with matte, satin and metallic finishes.
I had to Google how to pronounce Nyx when I got home as when I was looking at their products this girl said to (who I’m guessing was her Mum) “There’s that N-Y-X lipstick you like!” and I’m standing there thinking I say it as Nix, have I been pronouncing it wrong and people are too polite to correct me! In case you were also wondering the correct pronunciation is Nix.
