I saw a pin months ago for Candy Cane Vodka on Pinterest and thought that would be a fantastic gift to give people for their Christmas. It’s festive, handmade, easy to make and of course is alcohol so that makes it a winning present!
What you will need:
Bottle of Vodka 70cl
8 Candy Canes
Sterilised Jar(s)
How to make:
Place your candy canes in a freezer bag and smash repeatedly until it’s mush using a rolling pin. Or if you have a food processor you could use that instead but it’s not as much fun for trying to get your aggression out if you have had a bad day!
Place the broken candy cane into the sterilised jar and top up with the vodka. I would say to use a better quality vodka rather than an el cheapo (ie a value kind) as the vodka will have a smoother taste rather than the kick of paint stripper the cheaper ones tend to have.
Once the lid is on it will take 1-2 days for the vodka to dissolve the candy canes but give it a swirl a couple of times a day to mix the contents up. Tip: Use the red and white canes rather than the ones with a hint of green in them as the vodka turned from a nice baby pink colour to a dirty dishwater colour overnight!! Once the candy canes have dissolved the vodka will be ready to drink. You could add it to your hot chocolate (recommended as tastes like a hot After Eight) or have it with lemonade as both are very nice.
Let me know if you give it a try or if there are any other things you could add it to.
